Vanishing Man Diagnostic Tool
Level One
The Vanishing Man project began with one guy, a seasoned business executive, parent and partner, struggling to come to terms with his personal slide into a crisis of confidence, being unable to understand or articulate what was happening to him and why. Turns out, he’s not alone!
The project aims to support those experiencing a disconnection from their true selves, becoming uncertain of their direction, or even disappearing from their own story as Professional, Parent or Partner.
When you’re struggling, it’s often difficult to understand why this happening, a bit like fumbling a catch that in the past you would have made easily, first you think you have it, then you don’t, and then maybe you drop it altogether. It can be frustrating!
The purpose of this diagnostic tool is to help those that are beginning to experience a potential crisis of confidence to better understand why they might be acting or reacting in a certain way. It won’t give you all the answers, but it will provide a shaft of light if the road ahead is potentially darkening for you, letting you know that what you are feeling and doing is quite likely to be normal for your profile type. This is at least a start point from which to begin recognising the issues that you are facing and reframing your ability to move forward as you understand yourself more deeply.
Starting with your work environment, the analysis will help you explore your engagement with others, your likely triggers and built-in coping mechanisms, your key future risks, along with some simple thoughts to help you regain clarity, identity and purpose.
The analysis is spread out across the following five categories:
- Cognitive Approach
- Energy and Engagement
- Response to Crisis and Change
- Workplace and Social Dynamics
- Burnout Susceptibility and Risk
There is no time limit, so take your time. You can go back and forward as much as you like, some of the questions may not exactly describe your situation but may be close so please choose that option rather than excluding it.
See you on the other side!
